I can’t help but notice …

Racism among our police is not the problem …

Criminals among our citizens are not the problem …

Unjust laws creating criminals where there are none are not the problem …

Our focus on incarceration over rehabilitation is not the problem …

The lack of education surrounding sex is not the problem …

The lack of education surrounding drugs is not the problem …

The lack of education surrounding guns is not the problem …

The lack of education surrounding mental health is not the problem …

The lack of education in general is not the problem …

Violent and aggressive war is no the problem …

Militarized police are not the problem …

Attitudes surrounding the sanctity of life or the lack there of are not the problem …

Language such as Faggot, Nigger, Cunt, Chink, Spick is not the problem …

Holier than thou attitudes when it comes to religious ideology is not the problem …

Entitlement among the lower class is not the problem …

Apathy among the upper class is not the problem …

Inequality among the races is not the problem …

Inequality among gender is not the problem …

Inequality among the LGBTQ+ community is not the problem …

Hunger is not the problem …

Homelessness is not the problem …

The poor treatment of our elderly and veterans is not the problem …

Human trafficking is not the problem …

Slavery is not the problem …

Pollution is not the problem …

Lack of nutritious food options is not the problem …

Corporate greed is not the problem …

Illiteracy is not the problem …

Ethnocentrism is not the problem …

The problem is that each and every one of these problems exist right now… in each and every one of our home towns … and we choose to bicker and fight and insist that whichever of these we ourselves are experiencing is THE problem.

Until we understand that THE problem is that ALL of these are problems, we will not grow, nothing will change for the better.

If you deny the existence of or hold one issue to be more important than another … then you are part of THE problem, and purposefully working against any steps that are trying to be taken towards a solution.

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more! Lately I have been noticing that our society gets obsessed with the issue of the moment and forgets that our problems are more complex than one issue can resolve. Thanks for sharing.
